We conceptualise and implement digital multi-stakeholder exchanges, and help set up effective online platforms. Together with our in-house partner Media Company we offer attractive web design with meaningful content.
Some examples of our work are:
Webinar series: Implementing the Nagoya Protocol
Like many others, when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world in spring 2020, GeoMedia went on a steep learning curve regarding virtual events. Among the first activities in this regard, we supported the ABS Capacity Development Initiative to design, organise and conduct a series of four webinars on ABS for African stakeholders, government officials and negotiators. To ensure that the topics and discussions meet the demand of the audiences, all webinars were conceived in close cooperation with the African Union Commission (AUC) and held in English and in French.
The first series of webinars, titled “Mapping and fostering the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol in Africa”, was organised between April and July 2020. You can watch the very first webinar below, directly in this browser. Clicking on “Watch on Youtube” will lead you to the series of all four webinars in both languages.
Reflection webinar on IAG report
Since those first steps in spring 2020, we’ve been involved in conceptualising and implementing a broad range of further virtual meetings and events, mostly on MS Teams and Zoom, ranging from small and large working meetings, to further webinars, to trainings and even global dialogues. Language interpretation is now simultaneous and, depending on the occasion, includes English, French and Spanish.
One particularly successful example was the global “Reflection webinar on the report of the Co-Chairs’ Informal Advisory Group (IAG) on Digital Sequence Information (DSI)”, held by the ABS Capacity Development Initiative on 14. December 2021. The report had been the result of four working meetings of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), which aimed at assisting the OEWG Co-Chairs in conducting informal consultations on DSI.
Some 250 participants from all over the world participated in this two-hour event, which was simultaneously translated from English to French and Spanish. Two short presentations on the structure and main content of the report were followed by a panel discussion as well as opportunities for questions and comments from the audience.
